Dr. Shannon Chiu

Dr. Shannon Chiu

Dr. Shannon Chiu grew up in North Vancouver and completed a Bachelor of Science Honours at Queen's University before earning his Doctor of Optometry with Honours distinction from Pacific University. His training included ocular disease, low vision, contact lens, and primary care rotations, plus externship experience with retinal disease, glaucoma, cataracts, pediatrics, oculoplastics, Veterans Affairs ocular disease care, and low vision care at the Washington State School for the Blind. A Beta Sigma Kappa honoree and former Optomeyes optometric assistant, he brings both advanced clinical training and familiarity with the practice team.

Dr. Clark Bowden

Dr. Clark Bowden

Dr. Clark Bowden earned his Doctor of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry after studying biological sciences at the University of Calgary. His training included pediatric optometry, ocular disease treatment and management in the Boston Veterans Hospital system, and care in a Boston homeless shelter. He is certified in orthokeratology, scleral contact lens fitting, and Synergeyes hybrid lenses, received a Clinical Excellence in the Field Contact Lens Award, and is a member of national glaucoma, retina, and optometric nutrition societies.

Dr. Sydney Davidson

Dr. Sydney Davidson

Dr. Sydney Davidson completed a double major in Neuroscience and Philosophy at Dalhousie University and earned her Doctor of Optometry with Honours from the University of Waterloo. Her clinical background includes ophthalmology work at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, BC ophthalmology and binocular vision externships, ocularist-related artificial eye assessment experience, and rotations spanning ocular disease, geriatrics, pediatrics, low vision, binocular vision, and specialty contact lenses. She has also participated in eye-care humanitarian work in Mexico, Honduras, and Jamaica and volunteered with CNIB.

Dr. Melanie Hennenfent

Dr. Melanie Hennenfent

Dr. Melanie Hennenfent is Vancouver-raised and earned a Bachelor of Science Honours at Queen's University before completing her Doctor of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry. She received the national top score for Diagnosis and Treatment of Ocular Disease on the National Board Examination and the NECO Clinic Award for superior patient-care knowledge and competence. Her experience includes VA care, ophthalmology settings in Florida, Tufts Medical Center, Perkins School for the Blind, mobile care for underprivileged children, and specialized work in binocular vision, strabismus, amblyopia, eye-teaming difficulties, and post-concussion vision care.

Dr. Bart McRoberts

Dr. Bart McRoberts

Dr. Bart McRoberts is a University of Waterloo graduate with decades of experience delivering eye care on the North Shore, in Squamish, and part-time in the Caribbean. He previously served as Professional Services Director of TLC The Laser Centre, past President of the British Columbia Association of Optometrists, past Registrar of the BC College of Optometrists, and Chair of the Board of Examiners in Optometry. He has published on ocular pharmaceuticals and laser surgery, serves on optometric boards and committees, and belongs to national glaucoma, retina, and optometric nutrition societies.

Dr. Ryan Trottier

Dr. Ryan Trottier

Dr. Ryan Trottier earned an Honours Kinesiology degree with a Human Nutrition minor from the University of Waterloo, worked as a kinesiologist, then returned to Waterloo for his Doctor of Optometry and graduated on the Dean's Honour List. His training included binocular vision, electrodiagnostics, low vision, pediatrics, specialty contact lenses, clinical rotations in Fort Frances, Kelowna, and a glaucoma-focused Salt Lake City clinic, plus a Toronto laser eye surgery internship. He has provided community education on ocular disease and the aging eye and has particular clinical interests in dry eye therapy, specialty contact lenses, and vision therapy.

Dr. Victoria Bajorek

Dr. Victoria Bajorek

Dr. Victoria Bajorek completed Honours Science with a Psychology minor at the University of Waterloo and earned her Doctor of Optometry with Dean's Honours from Waterloo's School of Optometry and Vision Science. Her externship training included an ophthalmology office in Halifax that served as the East Coast primary ocular oncology clinic, where she gained experience co-managing advanced ocular conditions and cataract surgery care. She also trained in private practice and specialty clinics covering ocular disease, pediatrics, electrodiagnostics, low vision, binocular vision, vision therapy, and specialty contact lenses, with interests in ocular disease, myopia control, dry eye, and contact lens fitting.

Dr. Rida Pirzada

Dr. Rida Pirzada

Dr. Rida Pirzada earned her Doctor of Optometry from SUNY College of Optometry after completing Biology studies at the University of British Columbia. Her academic and clinical interests include the connection between systemic health and vision, and her SUNY externships exposed her to diverse patient populations across New York City. She completed specialty contact lens training and advanced clinical work at Gotham Health, where she managed routine and complex ocular conditions, and she focuses on helping patients feel informed and comfortable with care such as dry eye management and specialty lens fitting.

Dr. Nieka Sabeti

Dr. Nieka Sabeti

Dr. Nieka Sabeti earned her Bachelor of Science at the University of British Columbia, specializing in Life Sciences and Chemistry, and completed her Doctor of Optometry in Boston. She has practiced in British Columbia and Ontario and has advanced experience with ocular surface disease, including work in a specialty dry eye clinic and a broad range of therapies for patients with dry eye symptoms. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and BC Doctors of Optometry, has served on College committees, works as a clinical consultant, and founded CHESHMA Beauty with an eye-health focus on cosmetics and the ocular surface.

Dr. Alisa Gafur

Dr. Alisa Gafur

Dr. Alisa Gafur completed Life Sciences with a Biochemistry minor at McMaster University and graduated from SUNY Optometry School in 2000 after receiving a scholarship there. Her externship experience included the Hudson Valley Veterans Hospital, Fort Monmouth County Army Base, and serving underprivileged children and families in New York City, giving her broad training in ocular disease, glaucoma, and primary care optometry. She later practiced for six years in a high-volume Manhattan clinic, co-managing post-operative care, glaucoma, ocular disease, and AIDS-related eye care with ophthalmologists and other health professionals.

Dr. Simon P. Holland, MD

Dr. Simon P. Holland, MD

Dr. Simon P. Holland, MD is a cornea, refractive, and anterior segment surgery specialist at the University of British Columbia, where he is a clinical professor, and also practices laser refractive surgery at Pacific Laser Eye Centre. He completed ophthalmology residency at UBC, specialty certification in Canada and the United Kingdom, and American Board certification in the United States. He spent nearly five years with Project ORBIS, including four years as Field Medical Director, continued at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and remains active in research on refractive surgery, corneal disease, and international ophthalmology.
